Since the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, the world has been suffering from a significant turning point in the recent one-hundred-year history of humankind when the Covid-19 pandemic has caused enormous harm to the global economy. Meanwhile, many regions and economies around the world imposed temporary suspensions or lockdowns, the global merger and acquisition (M&A) activities continue to take place despite the difficulties coming from the pandemic. In Vietnam, the value of M&A deals decreased but many large deals were conducted by foreign investors and domestic corporations.

According to the Report on the economic concentration control under the Vietnam competition law July 2019 – July 2021 published by the Vietnam Competition and Consumer Authority (VCCA), the regulator has received a total of 125 notifications since the Competition Law 2018 took effect in the past two years.
